Stunning large free formed bowl made with black amethyst glass.
Black Amethyst glass appears solid opaque black until bright light shines through it to reveal the color is actually a deep jewel-like purple amethyst. Black amethyst was developed as a “black glass” recipe. Most 18th & 19th century black glass is really amethyst or green. We can easily produce opaque black glass today, but it was a challenge in the past. Black amethyst is rarely produced by glassmakers of today.
When held to the light the areas that were pinched by the glass artist’s tool (near the stylized pulled points) illuminate purple. The entire bottom-layer is black amethyst. Only the areas that have light upper casing reveal the amethyst. The upper layer is clear glass encasing mottled copper aventurine and rust. Very earthy, organic, arts & crafts/nouveau style. This dish probably dates to the 1930s or earlier.

Italian Empoli Blown Glass Tri-Corner Decanter
Stands 20½” tall. Handblown vintage Italian Eames era glass in perfect condition.
This extra-tall decanter was made in the late 1950s to 1960s by Empoli of Italy.
The decanter is 3-sided, not round. Side one measures 5½” wide, side two measures 5” wide, and side 3 measures 4.5” wide. Widest girth (circumference) is 16.5”. Stands 20½” tall with stopper. Hollow blown original stopper is just over 7” long.
Mossy color and organic mod decor, includubg intentional elongated spiraling bubbles. The base is inverted with the pontil mark ground. The stopper was made in two parts and applied together at the stopper disk.
Sparkling clean. Appears to have never held liquid, although back in the day people would use these big beverage decanters as they were meant to be used. If liquid is used in a decanter like this, it is very important to dry the interior of the bottle thoroughly after use to prevent liquid staining.
Vintage Glass Boopie Berwick Water Goblets in Forest Green
Set of seven Boopie glass water goblets in Forest Green. Made by Anchor Hocking in the 1950s.
This popular Atomic era pattern was called Berwick by Anchor Hocking. Collectors love to call them “Boopies”. The tightly joined balls on the base make it a “Boopie”. The goblets came in all sizes and many colors. Anchor Hocking made many more table glass forms with Boopies.
Water goblets are the hardest size to find because they were used the most and suffered more fatalities. The seven goblets are in perfect condition. They are in a favored color, patented by Anchor Hocking, called ‘Forest Green’.
The bowl was blown from mold with heat finished rim. The colorless Boopie base came from a mold, was hand-worked up with a twist, then applied to the bowl. They measure 6” tall and hold 9 ounces with ½ lip service. Beautiful for holiday tables. Sturdy enough for everyday use.
